Company founder Rüdiger Paulmann In 1968, Rüdiger Paulmann brings his many years of experience in the luminaire business into an own trade representation and specialises himself in the refinement of light bulbs.

He expands the scope of the business in 1982 to cover luminaire systems and accessories and founds the family-owned company, the Paulmann Spezialglühlampen GmbH in Wennigsen.

Three years later, Paulmann includes halogen systems in the assortment and develops creative cable systems and light ideas. Transformers and recessed luminaire kits also become further focuses in the product range. The assortment depth is appreciated by the customer already in those days.

1989, the first subsidiary is founded in Austria, followed in 1993 by the next one in France. From then on, own Paulmann subsidiaries and representations are expanded across Europe. The development of high-quality products all about light by in-house designers and design engineers impresses customers of many countries.

Construction begins in 1996 on a modern shipment centre in Springe-Völksen. Parallel to the new construction, the information technology is converted to the SAP management system.

In July 1997, the move to the newly built shipment centre in Springe-Völksen takes place, after only 15 months of planning and construction. The administrative and logistics centre is expanded to be the central location in Europe. The number of employees increases to 220 even with modernisation.

Paulmann continues to grow, so that in 2003 an additional consignment hall goes into operation.

2004, Detlev Paulmann takes over the management as CEO along with Thomas Hamann and Dirk Oldenburg; father Rüdiger becomes President of the Advisory Board.

The Paulmann Presentation & Training Center is opened in 2009. Retail partners have the opportunity to participate in seminars. Additionally, lamps and luminaires as well as various POS presentations can be examined in the Presentation Center.

Interest in Paulmann products is growing steadily in the North-American market. 2010, the cooperation with the Canadian trade representation is deepened. In the meantime, 450 employees work for Paulmann.

The association of family entrepreneurs awarded the 2011Entrepreneur Award to Paulmann for outstanding commitment to and from the employees.

As of 2011, Paulmann offers a competent webshop with much information all about light.
