Company Description

AGROSCOPE INTERNATIONAL (AI) is a cooperation endeavour involving the rural small scale peasant farmers in marginal areas of East and Central Africa region and the international trading institutions (PARTNERS) who comprise the manufacturers, distributors, exporters, importers, agents and brokers of agricultural stock commodities and appropriate technologies and machineries for production and value-adding. We are specially known for our 'pro-Organic' specailities. We are, nonetheless, engaged in importation of agricultural inputs including fertilizers, agro-chemicals plus agro-machineries and food products, mainly Edible Oils and Oil Seeds. We are able to offer ineffably cheap manufacturer's prices for all our products to buyers.

Right Environment:

Farmers and firms will be efficient only if the incentives they face encourage them
to be. The enabling environment that promotes production and efficiency has two parts: incentives and the physical infrastructure. Both are crucial. Experience worldwide convincingly demonstrates that the countries with the highest growth rates have kept their exchange rates competitive, avoided excessively protecting their manufacturing industry and under-pricing their agricultural products, kept real interest rates positive and real wages in line with productivity, priced utilities recover costs, and avoided high and accelerating inflation by following fiscal and monetary policies. Structural adjustment programs have reflected these themes, but as yet the policies have been only partially implemented. They are critical for recovery. Exchange rate policy is perhaps the most controversial issue. Overhauled exchange rates encourage imports and discriminate against local producers. A competitive exchange rate is essential to boost domestic production and employment. The key is to keep farm prices remunerative and industrial wage costs internationally competitive.
