The CBL Leadership
Development Program spans the portfolio of certificate, advance certificate,
diplomas and professional certification programmes. It is intensive, lasting
throughout students' time at the centre and their respective organization, and designed
to integrate with their overall course of study.

Our Leadership Thinking and Practice

Through coursework,
hands-on experience, and practice giving and receiving feedback, the LDP
develops skills on four levels:

The program is designed
to be:

Personalized. The LDP helps you
advance your leadership goals. You build up your own leadership plan, which
could include a leadership role at the school, starting your own venture, or
working with a community organization, and then act on it. You make use of a
unique assessment tool that is designed just for you to measure your progress.

Highly global. Leadership demands
and practices vary across cultures. A formulaic approach to leadership will
fail those interested in working in varied regions or in highly global
organizations. The highly customized nature of LDP enables you to prepare to
lead across boundaries.

Engaged with CBL. Through the LDP, many students
extend their engagement with Yale University, working with undergraduate clubs
or Yale affiliation and outreach groups, for example.

Integrated with your studies. The LDP advances in step with the academic curriculum,
providing you with opportunities to reflect on the leadership questions and
lessons encountered in the classroom.
 

Personal/Human Capital
Development

Human
Capital is asserted to be the most important element of success in business
today. Developing human capital requires creating and cultivating environments
in which human beings can rapidly learn and apply new ideas, competencies,
skills, behaviours and attitudes. At CBL,
the Human Capital Development group assists companies not only in Ghana but
across Africa to create opportunities for people to create shared
understanding, explore new ideas and apply them. The tools for creating these

Enterprise Development Services (EDS):

CBL was inspired by her partners’ concern over the years
about stunted SME growth and about marginal contributions the SME sector
appeared to make to the Ghanaian economy, in spite of its widely acknowledged
potential to drive private sector growth. The intention in setting up EDS
therefore was for CBL to play a galvanizing role in transforming Ghana’s
largely informal Small and Medium Enterprises into a sector of well-structured,
profitable businesses through SME policy research, entrepreneurial training and
Business Development Services.

With the birthing of The Enterprise Development Services, a
dynamic, mutually- reinforcing relationship between academia, policy makers and
industry, all acting in concert to provide realistic SME solutions, has begun.
The larger gain anticipated is a robust, wealth-generating private
sector. The Enterprise Development Services, EDS will augment current
ongoing efforts at SME development through a three - prong approach:

1.      Conducting policy research and leading new thinking in SME
policy development

2.      Offering entrepreneurial training (CEM) designed to give SME
owners and managers a firm grounding in business management fundamentals

3.      Providing a wide array of other business development
services as indicated under the BDS theme above.
