Product Design and Development

We at Kou Fu believe that no two products are the same. We treat each new product as unique in one or more aspects and work with the customer until all required specications are satisfactorily met.

Kou Fu is your best accessible venue for new packaging design. We can execute your concept for a packaging product or conceptualize the design  for the item you need to package.

We like to be proud of what we create, so our Product Design and Development Team work meticulously every detail of the product and at the same time ensure that it perfectly runs in the production lines.

We design to deliver, so you, the customer, can be sure that when we deliver the completed design to you, we are capable to deliver your required volume as well.

Prepress Facility

Every printing job generally starts from the prepress section. Kou Fu operates a state-of-the-art prepress facility employing leading technology for scanning, lay outing, impositioning, retouching, color correction, digital proofing and plate making.

Our prepress section is equipped with the latest computer-to-plate machine enabling fast and accurate production of printing plates direct from original files, typically downloaded via an FTP site, or supplied on disc. Eliminating film from the process flow ensures cleaner and sharper images, less production time and an accurate print on press.

Kou Fu has a 3D proofing capability that allows virtual viewing of the finished product. A 3D proof can be sent to the customer for approval of the general design and layout. This eliminates the need to ship out samples for customer approval thereby greatly facilitating the fast product development turnaround especially for overseas projects.

Press Facility

Offset Printing

Kou Fu has several offset presses to deliver to you the best quality print at a reasonable price. Our most modern offset presses have multi-print stations plus an in-line coating station with automated features that reduce set up times and speed changeovers. This is ensured by the optimized number of rollers in the inking unit which ensures that the balance between storage capacity and fast reaction is always maintained.

We can also switch from a conventional water-based coating to a UV coating, adding high gloss and greater scuff resistance.

The maximum size accommodated in our offset presses is 1.44m x 1.04m (56” x 40”).

Flexo Printing

Kou Fu also has acquired several flexo machines that provide flexibility in printing requirements. Our versatile flexo machines have high degree of precision engineering to produce excellent printing quality and register holding.

Our top-of-the-line flexo can print on a variety of substrates such as film, paper or foil. The said flexo totally supports interchangeable print medium such as UV flexo, water-based flexo, rotary screen, or hot foil stamping processes.

Digital Printing

Kou Fu has invested in Digital Printing machines to keep up with the latest trend in printing technology.

Digital printing provides the flexibility needed to come up fast with new printing concepts. With proven track record for quality, competitive prices and fast turn-around, our digital printing services are excellent for all your short-run or personalized digital print jobs.

Our digital printers can accommodate from 60 to 300 gsm substrates.

Post-press Facilities

Publishing

Kou Fu has its own publishing department to handle all types of publishing jobs. We have adequate capacities in cutting, folding, collating, sewing and binding.

No matter how large or small your item is, it will receive the same standard of care and attention from our trained publishing personnel, ensuring that the result you want is achieved.

Sticker

Kou Fu has an in-house sticker production section to serve your requirements for different types of stickers – from the simplest barcode to the more sophisticated full color commercial stickers or decals. You can choose from a variety of substrates to suit your design.

Diecut

Diecutting is an integral part of our production process. We have a range of auto-diecut as well as manual diecut machines to suit the volume, size and intricacies needed for each item.

Our Diecut section is supported by the woodmould making section which is equipped with laser cutting device for precision cutting making the blade insertion process in the woodmould easier.

Gluing

Our gluing machines allow us to produce a variety of box styles including the standard folding, double sides, crash-lock bottom, four-corner and six-corner boxes. Our newest gluing machine can process cardboard and E-flute boards.

Lamination

Kou Fu is capable to deliver to you the following types of lamination/ coating finishes:

UV Varnish - liquid laminate bonded and cured with UV light.

Spot Varnish - the application of varnish to selected areas to create a highlight or contrast effect

Aqueous Varnish - a water-based coating which is applied in the same manner as ink. It is used to protect and enhance the printed surface.

Film Lamination - the application of transparent plastic lm, usually with a high-gloss finish, to the surface of printed matter to enhance its appearance and to increase its durability.

Matt Lamination - a thin transparent film is applied to the printed surface. This gives the item more rigidity and water resistance. It also gives the nished surface a soft ‘satin’ nish

Other operations

Hot Foil Stamping - a printing technique using very thin aluminum foil in a variety of metallic colors such as gold, silver, etc. The metallic foil is released from the carrier base onto the substrate through the application of heat and pressure from a metal printing plate which bears the image of the hot-foil.

Embossing -the process of raising by an un-inked block, letters or designs on card or strong paper. The pressure is applied to the backside of the printed surface so the front side will have a raise three-dimensional impression which allows you to literally feel the design.

Debossing - an image is heat-pressed into the front surface of the paper with a die, creating depressions or indentations.

Forming

Kou Fu maintains and continually invests in various types of forming machines to deliver the required types of primary packaging products. We have a number of formers for paper cups, food boxes, cone sleeves, paper bags, etc.

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance is the heart of our operations at Kou Fu. We maintain and constantly improve our quality management system to consistently come up with products and services that resonate with approvals from relevant stakeholders.

Quality control starts from the sourcing of raw materials. We have set standards for the selection of suppliers as well as items for purchasing. Every raw material received is verified against these standards for suitability. Then appropriate quality control follows every step of the product realization process up to delivery. We have trained personnel to carry out the required QC checking as well as documented procedures as handy references.

We uphold the commitment we make to our customers by operating a certified Quality Management System to ensure that we are in sync with the current global standards and inject continual improvement measures to our ever evolving QMS.

Product Safety

Kou Fu has implemented a Product Safety Management System (PSMS) according to the latest version of BRC/IOP – Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials. With this, we aim to take total control of all aspects of the nished primary packaging product.

The established PSMS is fully implemented in our new plant which is entirely dedicated to handle primary packaging products.

Kou Fu’s primary packaging division has passed several product safety supplier audits qualifying as approved global supplier for our highly valued packaging partners.
