Company Description

Agri Informatics is a consultancy firm in natural agricultural resources. The firm was founded in 2001. We supply land use, land capability and farm optimisation solutions, through surveys, desktop studies, GIS analysis and consultancy services. We have our base in Cape Town (Durbanville) but operate throughout South and Southern Africa.
We specialise in the description and assessment of the suitability of the natural agricultural resources – soil, climate, water and vegetation – to sustain farming activities. We therefore can assist any project that relies on, or interacts with the agricultural potential of the land. Such projects include:
• Climate assessments to identify the suitable areas to grow a specific crop
• Soil surveys and mapping to compile soil potential/suitability maps
• Agricultural impact assessments to identify potential impacts of non-agricultural activities (eg urban development, mining, wind farms, etc.) on agriculture
• Farm planning and design based on the optimal crop-resource combinations
To support our core functions we also have the capacity to deliver the following related services:
• Farm mapping and GPS surveys
• Supply and interpretation of satellite/aerial imagery (infra-red)
• Crop/cultivar/rootstock recommendations
• Agricultural practice recommendations
• Soil fertility and plant nutrition recommendations
• Best practice guidelines
