Our Motivation For Being Entrepreneurs
Having worked in the education industry for many years, we are not just tired of hearing the complaints about the challenges we are faced with as a people but we also realize that we cannot make a difference by joining the band wagon of complainants. We know, however, that we could make a difference by starting the change and being the change we want to see. Manfred F. R. Kets de Vries says, "There are three kinds of people in the world, those who make it happen, those who see it happen and those who wonder what has happened". We want to be part of those who make it happen.
We realize that we have ideas that may never be materialized if we keep thinking, wishing or lamenting about them to people in authority. For instance, having a national development agenda which must be followed by any political party that assumes power, designing courses relevant to our developmental goals and direction in the schools, having an entrepreneurial and talent development curricular, the eradication of school drop out phenomena, internationalizing our businesses and schools, promoting a multicultural thinking, making internships and study abroad part and parcel of the curricular of the universities and polytechnics, and so on.
We choose this career path because it gives us the opportunity and the autonomy to cause a direct change in the lives of the people or influence policy makers and people at the helm of affairs in getting these ideas implemented or at least, considered.
We believe that having an international perspective to issues is crucial to understanding today’s socioeconomic environment. It is against this backdrop that we promote study abroad, work abroad, visits, travels and internships among students and young professionals in Africa and advocate that this be made part and parcel of the curricular in African schools and universities and businesses.
Our goal is to equip our students and professionals with the relevant know-how and expertise they need to be global citizens, competitive in effectively running multinational corporations. For instance, they gain insights into the world’s key economies, intercultural and global thinking and the internationalization of businesses such as being responsive and adaptive to the needs of international clients and partners, thus promoting international trade and peaceful coexistence in the world.
Moreover, they build a globally diverse network of experienced industry contacts, faculty and students from varied sociocultural backgrounds during their study, work, visit or internships abroad.
