Environment Protection and Alternative Power Development Private Limited

Environment Protection and Alternative Power Development Private Limited (EPAPD) is a company established in 2007 November 12 in Sulubung of Ilam district in Nepal. It is providing trainings and help to local farmers to modernize their farming methods and techniques. It is mostly known for popularizing kiwifruit in Nepal. It has been providing seeds and plants of kiwifruit to the people who want it. Large amount of kiwifruits are produced every year and supplied to the Nepali market through this company. Besides kiwifruit cultivation, EPAPD is also working to produce beehive briquettes, asparagus, mushroom, orange, organic fertilizer, lemon, pomegranate etc. This company was awarded with the first ICIMOD Green Champion Award in 2012 for spreading knowledge about kiwifruit plantation and organic farming among the villagers of Eastern Region of Nepal. The Government of Nepal also has awarded various awards to this company.  About 16,000 farmers from various districts like Ilam, Panchthar, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Terathum, Bhojpur are directly or indirectly benefited by these activities of EPAPD. It has played a great role for the development and modernization of agriculture in Nepal and also has helped to increase the economic status of Nepali farmers. This company has provided help and support not only to the farmers of its home country, but also for the farmers of its neighboring country India.
