From the cadle to the grave, we have the rights to live in clean air and environments. Our society has shown some positive aspects of accumulating hi-tech, and increasing export volume and personal income in the course of industrialization.

On the other hand, our beautiful nature has been contaminated with various pollutants such as industria
l wastes and car smoke. Especially, major big cities have been faced with serious air pollution problems that are far beyond acceptable level.

Worse still, our reality is that there are many indoor spaces contaminated more than outside air. It
is also known that we spend 80~90% of our time indoors, there the level of airborne pollutants is higher than outdoor levels. When we consider the fact that pollutanted interior air has more serious impacts on our health that outside air, Indoor Air Quality(IAQ) has become something we can not afford to ignore any more.

Also, the ventilation with outside air can not be
a perfect solution to this problem. Even though we can dilute the air with less contaminated air by increasing ventilation rate, the indoor spaces can still be affected be gaseous and particlate contaminants brought in from the outside or internally generated from building materials, various chemicals, old gas heaters and furnishings : odors, dust accumulation and growths of mold abd bacteris inside buildings. These airborne contaminants can have seriously harmful effects on the public healths. Considering all the problems caused by poor IAQ, it is very timely and fortunate, but a bit belated that Korean authority concerned is drafting a bill of Clean Indoor Act recently.
