Founded in 1992, Chongqing Zongshen Motorcycle Group had developed into a large-scale private hi-tech group integrating the research, development, manufacturing and sales of motorcycles (engines, speedboats and outboard engines). It has 1 core enterprise, 17 close companies, 33 half close companies, 36 loose child companies and its child companies are all around in Chongqing, Beijing, Shandong, Guangzhou, Ningbo, Wuxi, Fulin, HK, the USA, Vietnam, South Korea and other places. It has over 18000 staffs, 40 of which have academic degrees or above, and 15% of which are with high degrees (post doctor, doctor, master) and senior certificates. Zongshen group is a designated motorcycle and engine manufacturer by National Machinery Industry Bureau and the Ministry of Public Security. Zongshen brand motorcycle was awarded "China's well known brand". Zongshen motorcycles include over 10 output volumes from 49cc to 600cc, 60 models, and over 100 categories. Zongshen engines include ZS1E40FM and ZS156FM serial. The company can manufacture 1 million liang motorcycles, 2 million sets of engines, 1000 speedboats, 20000 outboard engines and 0.5 million gasoline engines.

Zongshen brand motorcycles have been exported to nearly 20 countries in South America, Middle East, West Africa and East Asia and registered in over 30 countries. The group's core companies and some close-related companies have passed the certification of ISO9001. Zongshen motorcycle team took part in World Road Motorcycle Tournament (24-hours stamina match), put "China" in the record of motorcycle tournaments and shortened the distance between China and world's motorcycle sports. On Mar.13, 2000, Zongshen motorcycle team was evaluated as 2000 TOP TEN TEAM of World motorcycle tournament by International Motorcycle Association.
