al which is being increasingly used for the treatment and disinfection of water. Ozone itself is the triatomic form of oxygen which has been formed by recombining highly excited oxygen molecules or atoms with other oxygen molecules.

A more elegant way of producing ozone, without the drawbacks associated with conventional processes, is by electrolytic ally dissociating water in an electrolyzes which uses a solid polymer membrane as the electrolyte.
