Company Description

Business TCL International Holdings Ltd. ("TCL" or " the Group") is engaged in the design, manufacture and sale of a wide rage of multi-media consumer electronics, information technology and mobile communication equipments. TCL's primary products include color television sets, home theatres, DVD players, PCs and mobile handsets. 78% of the Group's total revenue in 2001 was from its TV business. Within a relatively short time span, TCL has become a leading brand in the TV industry, achieving the highest sales volume in the PRC in 2001.
With the acquisition of TCL Computer Company in early 2001, TCL has become one of key domestic players in PC market - particularly the consumer PC market - in the PRC. In parallel, with the development of the PC market, TCL has been exploring various potential opportunities in Internet-related businesses. One of the Group's key focuses has been collaborating with prestigious universities in the PRC to offer distance learning programmes.

The Group's 30% stake in TCL Mobile Communication enables TCL to benefit from the booming handset industry in the PRC and the explosive growth of TCL's handset business in terms of both sales volume and profitability.
Production The Group's main production facilities are located in the PRC. In addition to its in-house manufacturing capacity, TCL works closely with a number of sub-contractors that have been carefully selected and have proven to be reliable in terms of delivery time, product quality and pricing. With the overseas market in its sights, TCL has gradually set up several production facilities in Asia.

Market Currently, the PRc market accounts for approximately 90% of TCL's total sales revenue while its overseas markets include numerous countries throughout Asia, South America and South Africa. With China's accession to the WTO and the ensuing reduction in trade barriers, TCL is considering further broadening its international presence.
